Use Prints for a Whole New Look!

Prints! Oh prints!

Whether you’re a print lover or not, I hope that after reading this blog you’ll be buying a printed piece of your own!

Prints can be overwhelming, I get that, yet I’m here to make you see the importance of having at least one printed item in your wardrobe, whether it’s a floral piece or just a graphic tee. Prints do help in elevating your whole look as they add a visual aspect to your outfit.

 Look at the above photos:

In the first photo, I’ m wearing plain clothing, which is very classic, simple and déjà vu. In the second photo, I’ve only added one printed piece. Look how a single item can change the whole look!

Can you see what I’m talking about? Plain garments are nice, but when there’s a printed item, the outfit becomes more interesting to the eye.

Still not convinced?! let’s talk more!

The good thing about prints is that they help in highlighting your body shape once proportions are taken into consideration. What I mean by proportion is that you can use prints to balance your lovely figure.

 “I look fat in prints”

“I look short in prints”

I hear such comments everywhere, but I’m here to enlighten you about these false concepts.

NO! prints don’t make you look fat… if chosen correctly!

NO! prints don’t make you look short… if chosen correctly!

Everybody can wear prints, regardless of your shape and height. There are enough patterns, shapes, sizes, and colors of prints to find at least one piece that speaks best to your heart, all you need is to know how to choose the best print for you.

The common rule here is that large prints and horizontal strips tend to increase the volume, whereas small prints and vertical lines decrease volume. This clearly means that you can use prints to enlarge or minimize a specific part of your body.

This explains why men like to wear horizontal stripes on the upper part of the body; they create the illusion of a muscular look.

So, the aim here is to flatter your body, keep this in mind. If you do not wish to look short, you must avoid patterns such as checks, tartans, large polka dots, florals and very busy patterns on the lower part of the body.

As a first step, mix one printed item with a plain or neutral color. Then, you can gradually start mixing and matching two prints together. For instance, you can mix the same print but different sizes, or mix two totally different prints. At this point, you’ll be taking your look to a whole new level.

So yeah, the beauty of prints! Take advantage of them and choose the ones that make you feel comfortable and reflect your personality.

Here are different types of prints that you might want to try. Take note of them!

Floral, Animal, Stripes, Geometric, Baroque, Paisley, Abstract, Graphic , Gingham, Plaids, Houndstooth, Tropical….
